The making of the Greek city: An Athenian case study

The paper elaborates the idea of the polis as a community made through the interaction of individuals. Shifting the focus from the development of the institutions of a well-structured city-state, Duplouy concentrates on the performative aspect of individual and group behaviours, establishing a new approach to Athenian citizenship and to the citizen community by focusing on society and lifestyles.

L'article développe l'idée d'une polis en tant que communauté créée par l'interaction des individus. Délaissant l'étude des institutions d'une cité-État, Duplouy se concentre sur l'aspect performatif des comportements individuels et collectifs, établissant une nouvelle approche de la citoyenneté athénienne et de la communauté civique en se concentrant sur la société et les modes de vie.
