The institutions of inclusion? The dynamics of low-wage work in wealthy countries

Jérôme Gautié

Résumé

This article provides an overview of comparative research supported by the Russell Sage Foundation on low-wage work - Gautié Jerome and John Schmitt (eds), 2010, Low Wage Work in the Wealthy Coutries. This project grew out of research in the United States - Appelbaum, Eileen, Annette Bernhardt, and Richard J. Murnane (eds.). 2003. Low-Wage America: How Employers Are Reshaping Opportunity in the Workplace. New York: RSF. - , which sought to understand how firms were responding to economic globalization, deregulation, and technological progress, and how such responses were affecting low-wage front-line workers.
