« De l’artiste engagé à l’artiste-enquêteur au XXIè : mutation d’une figure à l’âge d’un art extradisciplinaire »
Résumé
The twenty-first century has witnessed the emergence of a new type of art called « interdisciplinary », based on surveys and expertise, and which, in its questioning of the perimeter of the field of artistic practice, seems to dismiss the authorial figure of the artist in favour of an open conception of artistic practice which brings together researchers and activists. These practices which question and claim social and political utility, nonetheless reaffirm a degree of authority for art, and in its wake, for the artist, as a field from which problems relating to public and collective interest can be stated and heard. Thus this abandonment of the figure of the artist as creator of aesthetic forms and of the symbolic authority attached to him nonetheless does not imply a renunciation of belief in a certain efficacity of art in the area of public affairs (transl. Le xxie siècle a vu se dessiner un nouveau type d’art dit « extra- disciplinaire », fondé sur l’enquête et l’expertise et qui, dans sa remise en cause du périmètre du champ de la pratique artistique, semble congédier la figure aucto- riale de l’artiste au profit d’une conception décloisonnée de la pratique artistique qui réunit chercheurs et activistes. Ces pratiques, qui interrogent et revendiquent l’utilité sociale et politique, réaffirment néanmoins une certaine autorité de l’art et, dans son sillage, de l’artiste, comme champ à partir duquel des probléma- tiques relevant de l’intérêt public et collectif peuvent être énoncées et entendues. Ainsi, cet abandon de la figure de l’artiste créateur de formes esthétiques et de l’autorité symbolique qui lui est attachée n’implique cependant pas un renoncement dans la croyance d’une certaine efficace de l’art en matière de cause publique.
