In order to report on the contribution of stereoscopy to cinema, this research examines the structure and operation of the technologie involved in the S3D cinema. It then proceeds to the study of the stereoscopic filmic form. Finally, it places 3DS cinema in its institutional context and describes the viewing position that characterizes its spectator. This research mobilizes, throughout its progression, a varied historical, technical and also theoretical knowledge, which allows a better understanding of the status of stereoscopy in cinema and of its aesthetic possibilities. Furthermore, it gathers and develops theoretical and technical notions which are essential to the study of the specificity of the stereoscopic form in cinema. Finally, this research is part of the academic conversation revolving around the cinema of attractions. It offers a description of its configuration as a dispositif and uses it to study post-modern S3D cinema spectatorship experience.

Afin de rendre compte de l’apport de la stéréoscopie au cinéma, cette recherche examine la structure et le fonctionnement de l’appareil de base du cinéma 3DS. Elle procède ensuite à l’étude de la forme filmique stéréoscopique. Enfin, elle replace le cinéma 3DS dans son contexte institutionnel et décrit la position de visionnement qui caractérise son spectateur. Aussi, cette recherche mobilise, tout au long de sa progression, un savoir historique, technique mais aussi théorique varié. Celui-ci permettra une meilleure compréhension de la place de la stéréoscopie au cinéma et de ses possibilités esthétiques. En outre, elle rassemble et développe un certain nombre de notions théoriques et techniques, indispensables à l’étude des spécificités de la forme stéréoscopique au cinéma. Enfin, cette recherche se place parmi les travaux sur le dispositif du cinéma des attractions. Elle propose une description de sa configuration et l’utilise pour étudier l’expérience spectatorielle du cinéma 3DS postmoderne.
