L'influence de l'architecture théâtrale sur le décor des fontaines monumentales

Nicolas Lamare 1, 2, 3
Abstract : The architectural similarity between monumental fountains facades and those of Roman theaters has long since fed an important debate. The purpose is to take up the argument by basing the demonstration on another aspect of these buildings, the symbolic of their decorative and programmatic sculptural display. By studying the arrival and the increase process of these so-called "frons scaenae" fountains, as well as the architectural setting of the Augustan theater facade, the aim is to compare these two decorative schemes and explain how both of them could benefit from using a common architectural pattern.
